Reliance announced the launch of its own tablet – the Reliance 3G Tab.
The Reliance 3G Tab is a budget Android tablet which runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread. It will sport a 7 inch display, presumably with a capacitive touchscreen and a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels.
It will have 512 MB RAM and will likely come with a 1 GHz processor, like the Beetel Magiq. It weighs 389 gms and is similar to the Samsung Galaxy Tab when it comes to dimensions.
It will sport a 2 MP camera, and a lower resolution secondary camera for video calling. It comes with support for 3G, as well as GPS. It supports up to 32 GB microSD cards.

HCL Me X1 tab

Specification and performance

Me X1 comes with a 16:9 aspect ratio, 7 inch capacitive touch display that produces decent images at 800 x 480 pixels but the graphics aren't mind-blowing.
HCL has provided Android 2.3.3 (Gingerbread) operating system sitting on ARM Cortex A8 1 GHz processor, and 512 MB DDR2 RAM that gives decent performance. The tab doesn't hang even if you open multiple applications. It can also play full HD 1080p videos at 30 fps. The playback is not always smooth, however, that happens only occasionally.
For connectivity there is WiFi but no SIM slot for 3G, though SIM slots are common in budget devices including Beetel Magiq, Reliance 3G and even Aakash tab — all of these are priced at around Rs 10,000. Me X1 doesn't have Bluetooth either.
However, you can use USB dongles for 3G connectivity or for internet connections. Many users have complained of internet problems on HCL's website. But that might be due to user's failure to install the dongle drivers in the tablet properly, HCL claims that the tablet supports all the dongles currently available in the market.
Me X1 tab has 4 GB of internal memory which can be expanded up to 32 GB. But the notable absence of Android Market will leave you wondering what to store in the tablet. Though HCL has about 10,000 custom apps at Me Apps, access to Android Market would have been far better as it has more than 1.5 lakh apps and is growing.

Apple Preparing A New MacBook Air Range With Sandy Bridge And Thunderbolt Connectivity For Launch Mid 2011?

Rumours are circulating today that Apple might be preparing to launch a new line of MacBook Air systems later this year equipped with the new Sandy Bridge chipsets. The reports of the new systems are emanating from Taiwan where there are a number of Apple suppliers.
The new machines are expected to arrive some time in June/July this year and would correspond with the annual revamps Apple puts its systems through. Its also thought that the new faster MacBook Air machines would also be equipped with Thunderbolt connectivity which would be a great addition especially for connecting external drives, which is sometimes necessary due to the smaller solid state drives within the MacBook Airs.

The first Apple’s systems to feature the Sandy Bridge architecture were the MacBook Pros released in late February 2011 and were  also the first systems to receive the new line of high-speed Thunderbolt ports providing ultra fast transfer speeds.

LG Revolution Coming May 26th On Verizon

According to the guys over at Droid Life, the LG Revolution will launch on Verizon Wireless in the US on the 26th of May at the same time as the new Motorola Droid X2 and the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play.
It looks like the LG Revolution will come with Android 2.2, plus an LG UI, a 5 megapixel camera, and a front facing 1.3 megapixel camera, there will also be a 1GHz Snapdragon processor.

Other specifications include a 16GB pre-installed SD card, HDMI, DLNA, WiFi and Bluetooth,  and it is also reported to feature Microsoft’s Bing integrated into the device, as soon as we get some more information we will let you guys know.

Access Facebook on mobile without internet

Singapore-based software applications developer U2opia Mobile has developed a new application for mobile phones that will allow them to access Facebook on all kind of handsets without paying for a data connection.

"We are using USSD technology, which will enable users to access Facebook without having a GPRS connection on their phones," said Sumesh Menon, the co-founder and CEO of U2Opia Mobile.

Unstructured Supplementary Data (USSD) is the technology used by telecom players to send alerts to their users that inform them about their balance at the end of call or for sending miss call alerts.

Menon mentioned that though the technology will not provide access to graphics, it will help users send and view updates on their friends' Facebook walls.

"It is like sms and hence, the load on the network is negligible. We have built some commands through which a user can receive alerts on activity happening on his wall as well post an update," said Menon.

U2opia launched this application today with Indian telecom major Bharti Airtel.

While Airtel customers can update their Facebook status through this USSD service free of cost, Rs 1 per day will be applicable for accessing the full-feature application, which enables viewing news feeds, commenting on or liking news feed stories, posting on friends' walls, confirming friend requests, viewing notifications and finding as well as adding friends.

"In the Indian market scenario, where the penetration of smart phones is relatively low and the use of internet on mobiles is primarily limited to key cities, many users are excluded from accessing their Facebook accounts via mobile phones," said Shireesh Joshi, Bharti Airtel Director - Marketing, Mobile Services , in a statement.

Airtel users can dial *325# and *fbk# for non-qwerty mobile handsets to access Facebook without subscribing to data plans, the statement said.

"We look forward to bringing millions of Facebook users in India closer to their love for social networking by allowing them to access it anytime, anywhere on their Airtel-powered mobile phones,"

Future Smartphones To Recharge By Voice?

According to recent report, researches in Korea are working on a new way way to charge mobile devices, by using your voice.  Sang-Woo Kim, A researcher at the South Korean University, is working on developing the technology.
It works by turning sound into electricity, and it uses strands of zinc oxide encased in electrodes, there is a sound absorbing pad which vibrates when sound hits it, this cases the zinc oxide to expand and contract and this then generates energy.

The energy generated can then be used to charge a battery, and a prototype device has been developed that can convert around 100 decibels, to 50 millivolts of electricity.
It certainly sounds like a very interesting idea, and they technology could also be used for other applications as well as mobile device
